IT and networks for schools and education

Wi-Fi for full classrooms, managed devices, and protected student data.

In a school, the network must withstand entire classes connecting at the same time, and student data, much of it belonging to minors, demands extra care. Overwan designs high-density Wi-Fi, organizes and protects the network with network security, maintains backups, and provides technical support to the school community with IT outsourcing.

Who we serve

IT challenges in the sector

Many users at the same time

Classrooms with dozens of students, digital tests, and video classes require Wi-Fi sized for high density.

Minors' data

Student data, assessments, and health or special educational needs information require restricted access and enhanced protection.

Student and teacher devices

Laptops and tablets, whether school-owned or student-owned, must be configured, updated, and controlled, with age-appropriate applications and filters.

Networks separated by profile

Students, teachers, administrative services, visitors, and equipment such as interactive whiteboards and cameras should be on separate networks.

Small technical teams

Many schools rely on a teacher or a part-time technician for all their IT needs.

Compromised accounts and attacks

Phishing, credential theft, and ransomware also affect education, impacting classes and student information.

How we help

Regulation & compliance

GDPR

The processing of student data, particularly that of minors, must be accompanied by appropriate technical and organizational measures, with access restricted to those who need it and rules for the use of digital platforms.

NIS2 / Legal Cybersecurity Framework

Research organizations are among the sectors covered by the NIS2 Directive, which allows Member States to also include educational establishments, particularly those conducting critical research. The applicable framework must be assessed based on the activity and nature of the entity, in light of Decree-Law No. 125/2025.

Why Overwan

Frequently asked questions

Can the Wi-Fi handle a whole class connected?

Yes, if it's designed for that. We carry out an on-site survey and size access points and connections for the actual number of students and devices per room.

Do you separate the student network from the administrative network?

Yes. Students, teachers, administrative services, and visitors are placed on separate networks, with their own access rules and filters for each profile.

Do you manage the school's laptops and tablets?

Yes. We configure, update, and control devices centrally, with applications and restrictions defined by the school.

Do you provide support during school term time?

Yes. Remote support is immediate and, when physical intervention is required, we visit the school.
