IT, networks and cybersecurity for aviation

Managed networks, systems and information security for operations that run around the clock.

In aviation, IT supports flight planning, maintenance, ground operations and passenger communication, on schedules that never stop. Overwan manages networks and Wi-Fi in hangars and terminals, monitors infrastructure with SOC/NOC, applies Zero Trust to system access, and provides 24x7x365 support.

Who we serve

IT challenges in the sector

Round-the-clock operations

Flights, shifts and maintenance happen at any hour. Planning, crew and maintenance systems need monitoring and response outside office hours.

Networks in hangars and aprons

Hangars, aprons and parts warehouses have metal structures and large areas, where mobile terminals and connected tools need stable coverage.

Information security and operational safety

A cybersecurity incident can affect maintenance, planning or communications data. Information security risks must also be managed for their potential impact on aviation safety.

Multiple bases and stopovers

Bases, stopovers and workshops at different aerodromes need secure connections, centralized management and on-site support.

Passenger and crew data

Personal data, travel documents and payment information require access control and adequate protection.

Partner access

Manufacturers, workshops, handling companies and authorities access systems and documentation. Individual access, with the minimum privilege required and logged, reduces risk.

How we help

Regulation & compliance

Part-IS (EASA)

Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/1645 and Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/203, known as Part-IS, require various aviation organizations to implement an information security management system, including risk identification and treatment, incident detection and response, and reporting to the authority. The first applies from 16 October 2025 (e.g., to aerodrome operators and design and production organizations) and the second from 22 February 2026 (e.g., to air operators, maintenance and training organizations); the scope depends on the type of organization and applicable exemptions.

NIS2 / Cybersecurity Legal Framework

Air transport, including air carriers, airport managers and entities operating auxiliary facilities at airports, is one of the highly critical sectors under the NIS2 Directive, transposed by Decree-Law No. 125/2025. The applicable framework must be assessed based on the entity's activity and size.

GDPR

Passenger and crew data, including identification documents, require technical and organizational measures appropriate to the risk.

Why Overwan

Frequently asked questions

Do you help with Part-IS requirements?

We help with the technical side: system inventory and risk analysis, monitoring, incident detection and response, and logs that serve as evidence. The management system and the relationship with the authority remain the organization's responsibility.

Do you provide support outside office hours?

Yes. 24x7x365 support covers nights, weekends, and holidays, with continuous monitoring and defined escalation for incidents affecting operations.

Do you install Wi-Fi in hangars and warehouses?

Yes. We carry out the on-site coverage survey, taking into account metallic structures and large areas, and design the network for the terminals and equipment that will use it.

Do you work with operators that have multiple sites?

Yes. We manage the infrastructure centrally, with a single view of all sites, and we travel on-site whenever physical intervention is required.
